Current Church Board
Doug BenderLead Pastor since 2011
Married to my wonderful wife, Denise, since 1990. We have two terrific daughters, Mikaela and Mackenzie.
Enjoys reading, bicycling, exercising, and racquetball. A fun-fact about myself is that I did my 1st solo flight when I turned 17 after having less than 20 hours of flight instruction and having completed zero percent of my “book work”.
I love leading a team of leaders that are committed to a common objective. Reaching out to our community and beyond as we join the worldwide church in making disciples of Jesus. It has been great to see this team grow in their ability to think about what God might want to do through Cross Roads in the years ahead. To dream, plan, and pray together as we do our part to make room for God to do his part. I am continually amazed to see God breaking through and changing lives as people choose to follow him. It's my passion to see Cross Roads continue to grow into the church family that God desires us to be.
Associate Pastor since 2015
Married to Jenn since 2011.
I could swim in the ocean, drink iced coffee, and read old theology books everyday of my life and never get bored of it. I have never and will never eat a hot-dog with ketchup on it.
Cross Roads is made up of so many unique people with so much to offer to the world. I am passionate about helping our congregation fully own the gifts that God has equipped us with and invite others to share in the life of Christ with us.
I am married to Barb since 1980. We have three adult children, Aaron, Kara, and Valerie.
I enjoy playing guitar, reading, home restoration, computers/networking, and being the at-home mechanic for all my family's vehicles.
Cross Roads has been home to my family for over 30 years. I have seen God at work in so many different ways not only in ministry opportunities for reaching our community, but in growing our young people to serve Him in many short and extended-term mission opportunities. As treasurer, I am a member of the church board, and see this as an opportunity to use my leadership abilities to serve our church family.
I am married to Karen, and we have two daughters. Kelly, in Maryland and Kristen, in Mt. Joy.
I am employed as one of the managers in the parts department at Messick's Farm Equipment. I enjoy sports and outdoor activities. I enjoy working on my lawn and going hunting. I am in the PA State Record book for a deer I harvested in archery season.
God is doing great things here at Cross Roads! I am thankful to be able to use my gifts of leadership and discernment as I serve on the board.
I attend Cross Roads with my wife Kristen, and our kids Logan, Greyson and Caitlyn.
I enjoy getting outdoors for backpacking trips. I love to start reading books, and usually have 20 to 30 that I have started reading but have not finished – but don’t worry, they’re on my list of books to finish. I only have time to follow one sport, so I follow football, and love/hate the Eagles. I’m incredibly grateful that my work is my calling. At Humankind, I’m able to do what I am gifted at and enjoy doing, while also helping end the world’s water crisis.
I believe the local church is a catalyst for life change, and I want to be a part of that. I’m humbled to be able to serve on the Church Board at Cross Roads and to see how our church staff, volunteer leaders and the rest of the church body works to impact lives for the Kingdom.
I am married to Jeff and we have a daughter, Kendall.
I enjoy anything in the outdoors: athletics, hiking, running, and hunting are a few examples. I also enjoy working in the outdoor industry and contributing to my family business, Kinsey's.
I am passionate about Cross Roads because it is a place that Jeff's family is very rooted in. I see God at work and alive in Cross Roads. Church Board is a place where I can use my leadership skills to serve the church and hopefully help make decisions to impact the kingdom.
Married to my husband Kevin. We have two daughters and a son-in-law.
I enjoy scrap-booking memories and have quite a collection.
I love Cross Roads because it has become my family. When we moved here 2 years after we were married, I didn’t realize I would learn so much about loving God and being loved by our Heavenly Father. My passion is to see people learn to know God better and grow in hearing his voice.
I have 2 amazing children, Kyle and Mindy; and I have been widowed since 2008.
I have worked for the same Financial Institution (BB&T Bank) for over 42 years. I enjoy the outdoors, doing yard-work, hiking, relaxing at the beach or the mountains and spending time with family & friends. I also enjoy watching baseball, football, and Nascar racing. My favorite vacation destination is Hawaii.
I have enjoyed watching the growth at Cross Roads over the past several years and I’m excited to see God working in so many different ways, in & through so many different persons in the church & community.
Married to Barbara since 1983. Two sons, Jared and Carl, both married, and one grandson!
Bicycling, road & mountain, is my favorite way to get away and relax. Exploring is another favorite, whether it be by hiking, visiting museums, or tent camping. I’m a do-it-yourselfer.
My wife & I felt welcomed to Cross Roads just over 30 years ago with invitations to a class for young marrieds and to lunch in a few homes. Cross Roads became our church home. My desire is to see Cross Roads grow and touch as many lives as possible just as our lives have been impacted.
I am the Trustee Representative to Church Board.
Julie, my amazing wife, and I were married in 2014. Our son Samuel was born in the spring of 2017.
Julie and I live on a little farm that will probably take a lifetime of fixing up, and I enjoy tinkering with projects and taming the landscape to make it look respectable. My full time job revolves around corn, but I still like it so much that I plant unique varieties in the garden to enter in the county fair. I look forward to using Samuel as an excuse to play with Legos more.
I believe Cross Roads is a special church. We have the strength and firm foundation that comes from being a part of the community for over 200 years. I also think we’re a church of believers that recognizes our responsibility to continue that legacy. We’re willing to leverage and be generous with our resources, we seek to truly engage with those around us, and we’re willing to adapt to be a central part in growing the Kingdom of God in the next generation of Christ followers in Mount Joy and beyond. I look forward to serving on Church Board and Cross Road’s continued journey of making disciples for Christ.
